Moving is hard at any age. For a senior who uses a walker or wheelchair, or who gets tired quickly, it can feel overwhelming. At Ottawa Pro Movers, we take the time to make the move safe, calm and respectful. We work at your loved one’s pace, and their new home is ready for them when they arrive.
A senior with limited mobility needs more than strong arms and a truck. They need a team that plans ahead, explains each step and never rushes them. Our movers are trained to work carefully in homes, condos and retirement residences across Ottawa. That includes Kanata, Orléans, Nepean, Barrhaven, Gloucester and the surrounding area.
We focus on three things:
Safety first. We keep hallways and walkways clear the whole time, so nobody has to step around boxes or furniture.
Patience. Nobody is hurried. We go at the pace that works for your family.
Peace of mind. You’ll have one point of contact from the first call to the last box.
1. Start early. Give yourself a few weeks so nobody feels rushed.
2. Visit the new home together before moving day, if possible.
3. Pack a “first night” bag with medications, glasses, hearing aids, chargers, toiletries and a change of clothes.
4.Keep familiar items close. A favourite chair, blanket or photos help the new space feel like home.
5.Plan for rest. Have a quiet place where your loved one can relax during the move, or arrange for them to spend the day with family.
